About me

My name is Mingrui (Ray) Zhang. I was born in Kaifeng, Henan in 1995. Currently I'm doing research on augmented reality (AR) interactions at Meta Reality Labs, New York.

I received my Ph.D. degree in Information Science from the University of Washington, Seattle. Before that, I graduated from the Computer Science and Engineering department in Tsinghua University 2017. I was an exchange student in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and was in Fluid Interface at MIT Media Lab as a visiting student.

Research

    I love creating interactions that makes communication easier and bring people together. For now I'm doing research on text entry and user interfaces for augmented reality devices.

    I once worked in the HCI Lab of Tsinghua and Multimedia Lab of CUHK.

    2016 Summer I was in MIT Media Lab.

    I've explored many possibilities in CS to figure out what I'm interested.

Industry

    Currently I'm working at Meta Reality Labs.

    I worked at Apple to prototype novel input interactions on xxxx.

    I worked at Meta Reality Lab to design and implement text entry interactions with EMG signals on wearable devices.

    I worked at Google in the Android team on improving the keyboard correction experience.

    I worked in Momenta.ai as a research intern on Freespace Detection

    I worked in Mailtime as an iOS intern.

    I was a co-founder of LEEZEE Inc., Beijing.

Life

    I love biking. I cycled from Chengdu, Sichuan to Tibet in the summer of 2013.

    Sing songs, and play guitar (almost forget!).

    My mom is a nurse, and my dad, a government staff. My sister works with my dad. Belle is my cat's name.

目前在Meta纽约研究所工作，博士毕业于华盛顿大学西雅图分校信息学院。清华大学计算机系三字班，17年毕业，辅修新闻专业。

不愿做沉默的大多数。

科研

    对人机交互十分热爱,尤其是输入方式（触屏输入）以及如何更加自然地与设备交互。

    目前在Meta研究增强现实（AR）平台的交互技术，尤其是文字交互。

    博士在ACE Lab实验室，与Jacob O. Wobbrock教授一同研究输入评估模型以及智能文字输入技术的研究。

    我从大二开始在清华大学人机交互实验室，参与空中打字项目研究。

    大二暑期在香港中文大学多媒体实验室，接触图像识别与深度学习。

    大三暑期在麻省理工学院Media Lab。

    大四暑期在东南亚浪。

工业界

    15年夏在 商汤科技 水一个月。

    16年春夏我在 Mailtime 担任iOS实习生。

    我曾创业。工作团队是北京栗子工作室，由清华美院学长王鑫带领。目前作品为iOS端的“有劲相机”，现已退出

    16冬至17夏在Momenta.ai，一家研究自动驾驶的公司实习。

    19年夏在Google Research, 探索手机键盘智能输入的更多可能。

    20年夏在Meta Reality Lab，由于COVID在家远程设计如何将肌电信号(EMG)转化为文字输入的交互。

    21年夏在Apple，为xxxx开发输入交互。

    从22年至今在Meta Reality Labs。

    未来会考虑成立公司（吗）。

兴趣

    对音乐感兴趣，然而小提琴与吉他的弦早就生锈了，在尝试学钢琴。

    喜欢骑自行车，曾于2014夏骑行川藏线，后摔车骨折，改徒搭到达。
